GingerBread Lane Goes Green in 2009!
Well, sort of. The trees in GingerBread Lane, which are always a part of the village, have always been too small. So for the first time ever I am re-using a small portion of the previous years village. All of the trees from GBL 2008-2009 are returning this year, and they grew a lot over the summer. Using a process where I simply added more icing, to then make them double and in some cases triple in size I was able to go green in a small way.
The town square will return this holiday season with the GingerBread Lane Ice Skating rink coming back again. Also returning this season will be Santa's Christmas Tree Farm, modeled after the one in Missouri wher I grew up.
The lighthouse this year for The Port of EggNog Bay will be the Big Sable Point Lighthouse, from Ludington, Michigan. And the sailboats on the EggNog Bay this year, the S.S. Vickie and the S.S. Lavina, will be the biggest ever. Keeping with the lake Michigan maritime theme, the clock tower and windmill will be done in white brick this season.
And the Plum Pudding Hotel this season will be done in a brownstone fashion with multiple black iron ( licorice to you and me ) balconies all throughout.
